Department Profile
The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) is the municipal fire and emergency services agency serving Colorado Springs, Colorado. CSFD provides fire suppression, EMS, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, wildland firefighting, fire prevention, fire investigations, and public education. The department operates 22 staffed fire stations and maintains specialized engine, truck, heavy rescue, HazMat, medical, and wildland resources. The department's history dates to 1872, when Colorado Springs organized its first volunteer fire company. The modern paid Colorado Springs Fire Department began in January 1894 when the city replaced the volunteer system with a paid department
